Dessert wine
Many people do not understand the pleasures of these beautiful sweet wines, that have a character all of their own. We believe in the potential of this part of the wine list, which completes our presentation to you with a little explanation. Most dessert wines are the flagship of the vineyard, where passion and care are needed to make small quantities of wine. The enhancement of a dessert, pleasurable digestif after a meal to sip and savour, or for a special occasion an elixir of seduction.

Argentina
At the moment Argentina is at its generic wine stage, from good to excellent augurs well, especially with Malbec and Chardonnay. We are also very keen on Sangiovese and the Torrontes/Chenin varietal blend, at the lower end of the market.

Australia
The Drinking Wines that everybody expects to be exciting, modern and dynamic, but as a complete contrast to European wines where flavour comes from managing the fruit and capturing freshness and style from other elements, such as oaking, in the winemaking process. Australia has transformed its wine industry by developing a World Market for all to enjoy as a democratic right. The wines are classless and internationally acclaimed!

Chile
Chile has its own character and can produce charming, fascinating and unusual wines within an affordable price range. Distinctive wines are now in vogue from the Carménère grape, an old Bordelais grape variety which, well made, has great promise, as does the Malbec grape.

Italy
The Italian wine identity remains about its uniqueness and its prowess, to produce individual Latin style culture in a bottle, to offer the consumer an alternative to the sameness of winemaker’s blends in the kind of overcrowded and highly competitive Wine World.

South Africa
South African wines are great levellers, they are a wake-up call halfway between European and New World counterparts. The sensible measures now being taken are planting higher up on hillsides in search of cooler climates, with a strong identification of terroir combining with a sensitive organic approach to winemaking in the better Estates. Oak is used sparingly to highlight, rather than obliterate the fruit.
