Jancis Robinson's article "Hidden delights from the South of France" in the Financial Times listed Chateau d'Anglès Classique Rouge as one of her very favourite Languedoc-Rousillon producers, while Decanter listed it amongst their 50 best value French wines, commenting that "The blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre makes for a great barbecue wine; it has the Midi spice on the nose, but fresh pepperiness and a hint of warmth on the palate". A blend of Syrah and Grenache showing a deep red colour with black highlights. The aroma evokes red fruit flavours and blackcurrent and also pepper and liquorice. Full bodied wine, with smooth and delicate tannins. This red will complement all red meat and cold meat platters. We are delighted to offer the outstanding wines from the stunning Château d’Anglès Estate which overlooks the Mediterranean from the unique Terroir de La Clape in the South of France. Hailed as the new Provence in terms of tourism, the Languedoc reputation for fine and elegant Wines is also growing fast, and others too have recognized the qualities of the exceptional Terroir de la Clape. The Château d’Anglès enjoys ideal wine growing conditions. The vines bask in 300 days of sunshine and benefit from the sea’s cool breezes. And it is the surrounding vegetation of the ‘garrigue’, including pines, thyme, rosemary, juniper and the aromatic plants which contribute the aromas that give the wines of the terroir de La Clape their specifically Mediterranean flavour. The Estate is owned and the wines made, by the renowned Winemaker Eric Fabre, who spent 8 years as Technical Director at Château Lafite Rothschild and a further 8 at Château La Cardonne which he took from a lesser known Médoc label to the highest accolades in 6 years only. These wines were introduced to the U.K. in 2006 and are already being recognized for their exceptional quality and value. They have won a clutch of medals :- 4 at the IWSC and Decanter WWA plus 3 stars in Decanter Magazine in April 2006 and with Guide Hachette awarding three of the wines 1 star each. Coteaux du Languedoc - expressive, fresh and fruity.
