Located north of McLaren Vale in the celebrated Seaview Road, Sub-Region. Shallow loam soil over limestone produces small yields of highly flavoured fruit. Bee hives on this property contribute to the diversity, aid pollination and maximise seed production of inter-row pastures, with smart farming that focuses on soil health, bio-diversity and non chemical weed control. Natural compost preparations enliven the soil and are the basis for healthy grapevine growth. The fruit was destemmed on top of 10% whole bunches in an open fermenter, no yeast was added. The ferments were plunged regularly, and separately pressed to 15% new French oak and the balance to older barriques. The wine was blended after barrel selection and bottled after 10 months in oak to capture the vibrancy of the wine. Nothing was added except minimal sulphur as a preservative. The wine has earthy fruit aromas with underlying berry and truffles on the palate has smooth earth and berry fruit, great texture and fine tannins. The wine characters are those of a healthy vineyard. Matthew Jukes and Australian Top 100
